Workshop 4: Media Producing 101 for Scientists: A Workshop on Thinking Like a Producer to Develop Science Stories for TV Broadcast, Streaming and Other Media
Have you ever wondered how media producers turn scientific research into TV broadcast content? The process begins with understanding audience needs as well as the nature of broadcast media and (ideally) concludes with impactful programming that informs and inspires the public. This workshop will take you inside an early-stage brainstorming session to create a proposal for TV programming focused on scientific research. Breakout rooms will focus on specific audience segments.
Key takeaways:
- Experience the “lens” through which media producers look at scientific research (audience comes first!)
- Learn techniques for analyzing the needs of specific audience segments
- Get your creative juices flowing to make research relevant to non-scientists
