OIST's Visiting Program: Sparking Interdisciplinary Collaboration and Outreach
The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) was founded twelve years ago with the aim to "be the destination of choice to work, learn, and collaborate, linking science to education and leading to innovation and entrepreneurship". Being in a different environment often leads to new perspectives and ideas, which are crucial for scientific breakthroughs. OIST’s Visiting Programs aim to bring outstanding researchers from all scientific fields to Okinawa, intensify collaborations, contribute to OIST's interdisciplinary atmosphere and research output, as well as provide general-audience lectures, courses for students, and contribute to OIST’s outreach activities in the local communities.
