JSF 2023 Participant logistics
Thank you for registering for the Japan SciCom Forum 2023. We look forward to welcoming you to the main campus in beautiful Onna Village, Okinawa on November 21 and 22, 2023. Please find the access information and accommodation options below to plan your visit to OIST. Okinawa is a popular destination for tourists, so we strongly recommend booking your flights and hotel as soon as possible. JSF will prepare a bus from Naha Airport to the campus. However, the seats are limited and will be booked on a first-come, first-served basis.

Access to the Main Campus
There are several ways to access OIST campus from Naha Airport: 1) By taxi, 2) By car, and 3) By bus. Please find below detailed instructions on how to access the campus.
OIST Campus Address:

By taxi
Taxis are a very convenient way to travel across the island. From Naha Airport, you can take any taxi from the "long distance taxi stand" at the Arrival Terminal. Please print out the map with the address of your destination and show it to the driver.
The taxi fare from Naha Airport to the main campus can range from 8,000 to 12,000 JPY.

By car
If you prefer to drive (we recommend that you reserve a car with a rental company as soon as possible), you can reach the main campus via two routes:
- Via Okinawa Expressway (50-60 minutes from Naha Airport): Open Route in Google Maps
- Via Route 58 (60-80 minutes from Naha Airport): Open Route in Google Maps
Please note that the duration of your journey may vary depending on traffic conditions and the time of day.
By public bus
General Information:
- Depending on the bus, it takes approximately 1.5 to 2.5 hours to reach OIST from Naha Airport.
- The earliest bus from Naha Airport departs at 8:28, and the latest bus departs at 19:45.
Please note that there is no direct bus from Naha Airport to OIST Main Campus, but our campus can be reached by a combination of bus and walking or bus and taxi.

Time table:
- November 21
- 13:00 Departure from Naha Airport to the OIST campus <1,000 yen>
- 20:30 / 21:15 Departure from the OIST campus to the local bus stops (Ishikawa IC bus stop is the last stop. Please see the local bus stop route here)
- November 22
- 8:00 Departure from Ishikawa IC bus stop through the local bus stops to the OIST Campus.
- 12:00 Departure from the OIST campus to the Naha Airport <1,000 yen>

Hotels around the Campus
Onna Village and the surrounding areas (Yomitan Village, Uruma City, etc.) have a variety of lodging facilities ranging from business hotels, Airbnb, and ryokan-like types. Please choose the location of your choice. Please check the bus schedule in advance if you will take the bus from your hotel to the OIST campus. Please note that the number of buses and bus stops is limited. If you do not have a rental car, we recommend that you take a taxi.
